Centennial Kickoff …
Being a born and raised Calgarian, one of my fondest memories growing up was heading to the Calgary Stampede on the first Sunday (Family Day) of the wild 10 day event. My family and I would venture down on this day not only because it was Family Day but also because it was free admission before 9am haha. I remember going on rides all day long, playing games and then gathering around with cousins, aunts, uncles and just going to town on the Midway goodies they served. We would eat candied apples, corn dogs, french fries, cotton candy, mini donuts and then top it off slurpees. Whatever you can think of, they had it, it was delicious and was one of the best moments that I can remember.
This year marks the Centennial year of the Stampede. Can you believe it? 100 years of this tradition and seems like it’ll only get better and better. For those who haven’t had the opportunity to experience, I highly suggest you add it your bucket list. For all you Calgarians, you know how remarkable this time of year is. So enjoy, indulge and have a great Stampede everyone!
